Will Rosie replace Bob Barker on The Price is Right?

No, you didn’t misread the headline. At last night’s Daytime Emmy Awards, Bob Barker discussed the possibility that Rosie O’Donnell would be the next host of The Price is Right.

Barker said that he thought that O’Donnell and The Price is Right honchos are planning a meeting to discuss the idea.

O’Donnell is an avid fan of The Price is Right and even has her own full-sized Plinko board at home. She’s also no stranger to games and giveaways, both trademarks of her former talk show. O’Donnell loves giving audiences prizes so much that it became a daily practice during her stint on The View.

On Thursday, O’Donnell took out a full-page ad in Variety honoring Barker and inviting him to her Miami home to play Plinko.

As for Barker’s thoughts on Rosie replacing him, here’s what he had to say in the Emmy press room:

“So far as doing it, there's no doubt in my mind that she could do the show," he said. "Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men. Although I do believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie.”

So, what do you think? Is The Price is Right ready for a female host? Would that mean that the “models” would suddenly look like Josh Duhamel instead of Paris Hilton?

I think hosting a game show would be a nice change for O’Donnell. She alienated a lot of former fans this year, when she began espousing her political views on The View. On a game show, O’Donnell could once again tap into her fun side, without lecturing the nation about the horrors of war.

Frankly, I’ve missed “fun” Rosie. She always seems genuinely gleeful when playing games to help people win prizes, and her enthusiasm is contagious. So, perhaps Barker’s former show would be a perfect fit for her. That is, of course, if the price is right!

After watching the last Price Is Right last night, it seems that Barker has left big shoes to fill. One thing I noticed is how much the audience loved him - like, extreme absolute love. The new host will have a difficult time re-creating that kind of acceptance with the audience quickly.

Good point. I can't believe that folks stood in line for days to see him at the finale. I had no idea he had such a devoted fan base.

Give us all a break; stay in retirement from show-biz is awaiting. Be a stay-at-home-"mom".

I don't believe Rosie can ever come close to carrying on after Bob Barker. Instead, send her to China to manage the game of "Dodge the Flood". On the other hand, if they should choose Rosie as the replacement, that means I will have more time reading books! Excuse me, I have to go vomit!

Replacing Bob Barker would be a huge mistake. I love watching the show but that will cease if they put that foul mouth hussy on the show. I feel that it would be dishonoring Bob by replacing him with her. I think the best choice would be the cute guy with the big dimples. I cannot think of his name right now. He hosted the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico. He is bubbling over with personality.

I just posted a comment and left out a few words. The first sentence should have read, " I think replacing Bob Barker with Rosie O'Donnel would be a HUGE MISTAKE."

just my opinion said...

I agree 100%. She always uses her shows to voice her political agendas. There is nothing wrong with that if it is the "right" show. The Price is Right is the wrong show for a celebrity like Rosie. She needs something like The Daily Show.

I'm not really an avid fan of TPIR or Bob Barker, but do tune in occasionally. I'm not a fan of ugly , fat, lesbians, either. IMHO it would be a HUGE mistake to replace him with the "mouth". I imediately turn to channel if I see her disgusting face on the screen.

I have watched Bob Barker on the Price is Right for Years. I think with Rosie to replace him would be terrible. She just doesn't seem like the type that can replace him.

Maybe they should try different people first to see who everyone likes first.

I can't think of the guys name right at the moment but the guy does the show Deal Or No Deal would be good on The Price Is Right.

Howie Mandell would be a good choice. I think he is the one
that does the show Deal or No
Deal..

I don't think Rosie O'donnell has what it takes to be on camera ever again....she is disrespectful and just down right rude....little children watch this show with their parents....do we really want our children to watch her out rages. Isn't that telling our 2 yr. olds....they can throw temper tantrums as long as you are rich.

I know that if Rosie replaces Bob on the show, I will never watch the show again. I feel as if Rosie needs to learn anger management. She is has a very ugly attitude toward everyone and every thing and needs to learn that this isn't Rosie land. I have never seen such self centerness since Paris Hilton. Both should be stripped of everything they have and thrown into normal society. Wonder if they would make it?

I don't understand why they haven't made this into a reality show! They have made everything else in this society a reality show. Maybe the right person to fill Bob Barkers shoes isn't yet discovered.

I don`t think Rosie`s pig like qualities belong on any show, She has her nose in the wrong trough most of the time,(no pun intended).

I think Rosie is a great choice to replace Bob Barker on the Price is Right! She is a very fun person, she loves to give away prizes and once she got on the show everyone would soon see that she is the PERFECT replacement for Bob!!!!!! I agree with Bob Barker. Let Rosie have the job.

If Rosie is hired to replace Bob Barker, I swear I will never, ever watch the show again. I watch it everyday and my dog could do a better job than Rosie. I'm tired of her mouth and her opinions. She ruined The View and now, given the chance, she'll ruin The Price Is Right.

Not Rosie. She is not fit to be on TV period much less to Host one of the greates shows ever to be on TV

I will never watch "The Price Is Right" again if SHE (R. O'D) becomes the replacement for Bob Barker.

I personally will never watch any tv program or movie featuring Rosie. The price is right producers would do much better to entertain the thought of someone like John O'Hurley.... now him I'd watch! As far as I'm concerned Rosie is done as an entertainer.

There is NO WAY Rosie can or could
ever replace Bob Barker!!
Give us a Break, let Rosie stay
at home where she belongs, with
her lover and kids!!!

Wow, I had no idea there was such an anti-Rosie attitude out there. I don't think TPIR will hire her. I honestly think it will be a man.

I just found this and other websites where the possibility of replacing Bob Barker with Rosie O'Donnell was discussed. I cannot believe that the powers that be at CBS would consider her as a replacement for even a moment!! It would kill the show! Has anyone considered Chuck Woolery as a replacement? He has many years experience on game shows, along with the good looks, class, and humor to carry a show like TPIR. I can't believe his name hasn't been discussed as a possibility.
